On a hot and humid summers day a young man found two trees and carefully hung a hammock between them. After having successfully done so he quietly retired to it with the intention of passing away the day beneath the sun’s beating rays, the heat of which was only briefly and sporadically lessened by a light breeze passing through the trees. Hours passed in this fashion with the young man sweating while his hammock gently swayed. Eventually, the young man’s cousin came to speak with him.
“Cousin Ibrahim, won’t you come inside? It must be dreadful out in this heat. We can make a refreshing tea and relax in the shade”
“That is a fine offer” the young man replied, “but I would rather rest here, in my hammock”
“But cousin, it has been hours you have been out here, aren’t you hungry?” asked the cousin.
“Of course I am hungry” he replied calmly.
“And cousin, here in your hammock you have no protection from the sun. Aren’t you hot?” the cousin asked, more incredulously.
“Of course I am hot” the young man replied.
“Then why do you want to rest here in your hammock instead of inside where you can have tea and sweets and shade?” demanded the cousin.
“Because I am enjoying myself” replied Ibrahim.
